Hamilton pip Kilmarnock to the signing of Raith defender Kieran MacDonald

HAMILTON have won the race to land Kieran MacDonald.

SunSport understands the former Raith Rovers defender will sign for Brian Rice’s side despite interest from Kilmarnock.

The 27-year-old was playing part-time last season while working as an engineer but will now return to full-time when he rejoins Accies.

MacDonald spent a year with the club after arriving from Clyde in 2014 before joining East Fife.

The signing will come as a massive boost to Hamilton gaffer Rice as he looks to get his side back to the Premiership.

Fellow Championship new boys Killie were also keen on the left-back but MacDonald, who was named in the Championship team of the year, will now commit his future to Accies.

Rice has already added former Rangers youngster Matthew Shiels to his side to battle with MacDonald for a starting slot.

Scott McMann is still with the club, although as SunSport revealed last month, the experienced stopper is attracting interest from clubs north and south of the border.

Hibernian and St Johnstone are keeping tabs on the 24-year-old, while English side Millwall watched him in action towards the end of the season.

Meanwhile, cinch is the new title sponsor of Scotland's top four leagues after agreeing a five-year-deal - the largest deal in the SPFL's history.

The online used car marketplace will sponsor the Scottish Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two until the 2025/26 season.

And the SPFL revealed the deal across the divisions represents the "largest title sponsorship deal in the SPFL's history".

Effective immediately, Scoland's league will be branded with cinch marketing as the company also become the official car partner of the leagues.

The SPFL hailed the "significant investment" into Scottish football as cinch continue to build sports sponsorship deals including partnerships with England Cricket and Tottenham Hotspur.

Live events Latitude, Creamfields, Scotland's TRNSMT, Isle of Wight Festival and the Edinburgh Summer Sessions are already sponsored by cinch.

And despite news of a title sponsor for the leagues, fans have been more interested in the prospect of reality star Rylan Clark-Neal presenting the trophies and medals at the end of the season.

The TV and radio presenter stars in cinch adverts with fans calling on Rylan to hand over the trophy on title day next season following in the footsteps of Howard from Halifax who presented Rangers the top-flight title in 2003.
