Kris Ajer singles out John Kennedy as ‘most important’ person for him at Celtic in emotional goodbye on Instagram

KRIS AJER paid special tribute to John Kennedy after he completed his record £13.5m switch to Brentford.

The Norwegian joins the Premier League newcomers on a five-year deal after months of transfer intrigue.

Ajer had been training with the Celtic squad during pre-season but hasn't featured in any of the club's friendlies and was left out of their Champions League squad.

And he was pictured in London after completing the formalities of his move to the Championship play-off winners.

The giant defender, who arrived at Celtic in June 2016 from Start in his homeland, can't wait to get started in the Premier League - but he issued thanks to the Celtic fans on his Instagram account last night.

And perhaps surprisingly, he reserved special words of support for the club's long-standing assistant manager John Kennedy, who he regarded as the most important person during his time at Celtic.

Ajer said: “I want to thank every Celtic supporter who has contributed to make my time so special.

“I also want to thank the managers who have developed me as a player and the backroom staff.

“And also my team-mates who have become great friends and will last a lifetime.

“A special mention also to John Kennedy, the most important person for me during my time at Celtic.

“Without him we would never have won the quadruple treble.”
