Wales winger Harry Wilson is on the verge of a move to Fulham, WalesOnline understands.

The 24-year old has seen his future become the subject of intense scrutiny this summer, with his chances of making a meaningful first team breakthrough at Anfield remaining slim.

Portuguese giants Benfica made an enquiry into the Welshman's availability earlier in the window, while there was also tentative interest from Premier League new boys Brentford.

Cardiff City also made little secret of their desire to bring Wilson back to the capital following his sparkling loan spell last season, but given the level of competition, a return to South Wales always seemed unlikely.

It now seems Fulham have now won the race for Wilson's signature, with the player himself sitting out Liverpool's 1-0 pre-season win over Mainz on Friday evening.

Wilson remains at the club's Austrian training camp, but now appears to be on the brink of a move to Marco Silva's side.

The exact terms of the potential move aren't clear at this stage, although reports elsewhere have indicated that Fulham could well be about to pay £10m as part of a permanent move.

However, sources have suggested to WalesOnline that the deal could actually be a loan with the option to buy.

Whatever the terms, nothing has been finalised as of yet, but there's nevertheless growing confidence that Wilson will be playing in west London next season.

Wilson enjoyed a superb campaign in the second tier for Cardiff last term, having joined the Bluebirds after a permanent deal to Burnley fell through.

He went on to scored seven goals and earn 12 assists in 37 league outings for the Bluebirds.
