Jens Cajuste has attracted so much interest this summer that Midtjylland are resigned to losing the midfielder - who has again been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

Cajuste has been monitored by Newcastle, Leeds and Brentford after catching the eye with his performances for Midtjylland last season and reports on the continent suggest the black-and-whites remain keen.

Steve Bruce hopes to complete a deal for number one target Joe Willock, after Newcastle and Arsenal struck a deal worth in excess of £20m over the weekend, and, in an ideal world, the Magpies head coach would love to bring in another midfielder, too.

Given Willock's sizeable fee, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle would also have the funds to spend big on another midfielder and it is worth remembering that Bruce still has two domestic loan slots at his disposal.

Regardless, having already lost Frank Onyeka to Brentford, ChronicleLive understands that Midtjylland expect Cajuste will be sold before the end of the window.

Although Cajuste has continued to train with the first team, tellingly, the Sweden international. has not yet featured for Midtjylland since returning from the Euros despite the Danish giants having some big games against Celtic and PSV in the Champions League qualifiers.

Svend Graversen, the club's sporting director, has now given an update on Cajuste's situation with just two-and-a-half weeks to go until the window closes.

"There is such intense interest in Jens that I have a hard time seeing nothing happening to him in the near future," he told Tipsbladet.

"There are a lot of clubs that are interested and there are also a lot of clubs that are specific with their interest.

"Then it is the case for us and for Jens that we must find the best solution for all parties."
