‘I’m surprised’: Simon Jordan makes Farhad Moshiri claim on transfer deadline day

Simon Jordan has claimed that he is ‘surprised’ that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri isn’t ‘spending any money, whatsoever’, as he told talkSPORT (31/08/21 at 11:40 am).

The former Crystal Palace owner touched upon Everton’s possible troubles with FFP this summer.

Usually, when a new manager walks through their doors, he will get a healthy amount to spend, especially for a team like Everton, who have splashed the cash in recent years.

But Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend have been Everton’s marquee signings this summer and one of them was a free transfer.

Nonetheless, Jordan queried Everton’s current situation on transfer deadline day and how they aren’t looking to improve their squad.

“Aren’t you intrigued why your mate (speaking to Jim White) isn’t spending any money,” asked Jordan.

White responded by saying: “Moshiri? Yes, is the answer to that.”

Jordan added: “I think they are get walloped on financial fair play. They have lost so much money, irrespective of the clemency of financial fair play.

“I think Everton’s finances are under pressure because you can’t suggest bringing Rafa Benitez in, and having a spend of £1.8 million, is the order of the day. I am surprised we aren’t hearing more about Everton spending any money, whatsoever.

“In order for Everton to improve, surely they have to spend.”

It may not prove to be a big-money signing on deadline day, but it seems as though a familiar face is about to return to the Premier League.

Salomon Rondon could be set to re-unite with Rafa Benitez at Goodison Park, after previously working with him at Newcastle.

Once again, if he does arrive then it’s perhaps not the type of summer supporters were expecting.

But then again, maybe that suits them because it’s not like they have used the money spent during previous windows in a wise manner.
