Harvey Elliott hits out at Pascal Struijk red card appeal decision after horror injury

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has shown his class once again after reaching out to Leeds defender Pascal Struijk

Harvey Elliott has sent a classy message to Pascal Struijk following news that Leeds United failed in their appeal to overturn his red card.

Struijk was dismissed against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon for his challenge in midfield that caused Elliott to seriously injure his ankle and require surgery.

The Leeds defender was quick to issue an apology to the Reds' midfielder after the game and wished the 18-year-old a speedy recovery.

Of the view that this dismissal was unfair based on the challenge itself, Marcelo Bielsa's side decided to lodge an appeal against this decision made by referee Craig Pawson.

But the FA have confirmed they will be uphold Struijk's ban, meaning the 22-year-old will miss the club's next three games against Newcastle United, Fulham (cup) and West Ham United.

Reacting to news of this official verdict, Elliott defended Struijk once again and insisted that he believes the wrong call has been made.

"Sorry about this Pascal. I think it's wrong! But it'll soon blow over brother and you'll be back in no time smashing it again. Keep positive," said the Reds' midfielder on Instagram.

Elliott has been praised in recent days for his response to his cruel setback, having remained positive despite facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Fulham academy graduate clapped the Leeds fans as he was stretchered off the pitch at Elland Road, spent time chatting to a Liverpool fan while in hospital and has now shown his true colours again with this remark.
