Ally McCoist in FA 'bampots' blast as Rangers hero fillets Pascal Struijk Liverpool appeal decision

Leeds star Struijk saw red after injuring Liverpool star Harvey Elliott with a challenge from behind.

Ally McCoist has labelled the FA "bampots" after they upheld the red card handed to Leeds star Pascal Struijk at the weekend.

Struijk was involved in a horror incident with Liverpool 's Harvey Elliott where a challenge from behind left the youngster with a serious injury.

The referee was initially happy to let play go on without even giving a foul.

But upon seeing the reaction to the injury and the serious nature of it, he stopped the play and showed red.

It's since been confirmed that Elliott dislocated his ankle but many have jumped to Struijk's defence, feeling the challenge was fair and there was no real intent to do harm.

Leeds appealed the decision but were informed on Wednesday that the ban had been upheld.

Much to the dismay of Rangers hero McCoist, who slammed the "scandalous" decision on talkSPORT.

He said: "It just shows you, they’re bampots, honest to god.

"They had a chance to absolve that boy of any blame and they’ve not done it.

"He’ll now spend the rest of his career thinking he was responsible in some way, shape or form for that injury to Harvey Elliott.

"Anybody with any level of intelligence can look at that tackle and see it was a horrific injury but there was no malice at all, none whatsoever.

"It was not a red card it was just an unfortunate footballing incident.”
