Moment Cagliari star Joao Pedro scores insane 'lobbed header' in 2-2 draw with Lazio
Cagliari's Brazilian star Joao Pedro has been in fine nick in front of goal so far this season, but he'll have to go some way to top his sensational effort against Lazio on Sunday
This is the moment Cagliari star Joao Pedro scored an insane lobbed header in their 2-2 draw with Lazio.
Pedro, 29, has been in fine goalscoring form so far this season, netting three times in four games prior to Sunday's Serie A clash.
But the Brazilian ace raised the bar to a new level entirely with his gravity-defying equaliser at the Stadio Olimpico.
With Cagliari 1-0 behind following Ciro Immobile's opener, Pedro stepped up to the plate in a big way at the start of the second half.
After picking up the ball on the left hand side, the former Estoril man played a sideways pass to team-mate Razvan Marin.
Pedro continued his run, and the Romanian midfielder played a lovely dinked ball over the top to send him through on goal.
Spotting Pepe Reina too far off his line, Pedro managed to lob the former Liverpool man with a header that looped just underneath the crossbar and in.
The goal received plenty of praise on social media, with one Twitter user writing: "Seen plenty of lobbed goals from headers but fair play this was nice."
Someone else said: "My man was on fire today."
While a third person added: "Outrageously good ball and header."
However, not everyone was impressed.
Some preferred Robin van Persie's spectacular superman goal against Spain at the 2014 World Cup, when the former Arsenal man headed past Iker Casillas from just inside the box.
One fan said: "Someone here clearly didn’t watch the 2014 WC."
Another commented: "Is it me or are they going way overboard. First one that comes to mind is rvp."
After Pedro's equaliser, Cagliari turned the game on its head as the Brazilian pulled the ball back for Keita Balde, who drilled home against his former club to make it 1-2.
That's how it stayed until the closing stages when Danilo Cataldi found a leveller to secure a share of the spoils for the hosts.
