Albian Ajeti clashes with Celtic hero Ramon Vega over Switzerland criticism as striker fires back 'who is that?'
Vega wasn't impressed with Ajeti's international recall but the striker said his piece in a Swiss publication.
Striker Albian Ajeti insists he's never heard of Ramon Vega after the former Celtic defender lambasted his Switzerland national team call-up.
Ajeti has been handed a surprise recall alongside Rangers striker Cedric Itten, who is currently starring on loan at German side Gruether Furth.
The striker deputised up front for the Hoops in the recent absence of star man Kyogo Furuhashi with new striker Giorgos Giakoumakis lacking fitness too.
But the side struggled with him leading the line and on the international front Vega was not convinced, remarking over the weekend: "I am very surprised that Ajeti was called up and I really can't understand it.
"He actually only plays at Celtic because the manager has no other options due to many injuries. And he wasn't really convincing.
"I see little dynamism, little speed in him - I only see a few predatory qualities, which he does too seldom. I don't know what he stands for as a striker."
Now Ange Postecoglou's man has fired back heading into the international break with World Cup 2022 qualifiers to come against Northern Ireland and Lithuania.
Ajeti told Swiss publication Blick : "Ramon Vega? Who is that?
"That is his opinion, but he doesn’t choose the lineup, so I’m less interested.
"We have to deal with criticism. This is football. That's part of it.
"I can live with it. Of course things can always go better, but I fight and do my best.
