Nabil Fekir reveals what Jurgen Klopp told him before collapsed Liverpool transfer

Liverpool almost signed Nabil Fekir from Lyon in 2018, before the deal was called off at the eleventh hour

Nabil Fekir has opened up on the talks he had with Jurgen Klopp ahead of his collapsed move to Liverpool.

Fekir was close to moving to Anfield in the summer of 2018 from Lyon, before the deal collapsed at the eleventh hour.

Rumours rumbled on throughout the summer, some saying there were problems with the medical.

Three years on, Fekir has spoken on numerous occasions and maintains the deal wasn't called off due to concerns over a knee injury.

A year after his failed move to Liverpool, Fekir left the French club to join La Liga outfit Real Betis.

Last month, Fekir claimed that it was his agent that put a stop to his dream move to Liverpool.

Now in another interview, Fekir has revealed he had talks with Klopp before agreeing to join Liverpool from Lyon.

“Everything was closed," said Fekir, in an interview with BetisTV and Moveistar+, via The Mirror.

"I passed all the interviews, I spoke with Jurgen Klopp, he told me that he loved me, we all did it and, when we were about to sign, there were problems with my representative and the negotiation broke down.

“They said it was because I had knee problems, but the truth has been proven over time. My knee is super good.”
