GOODBYE
Job done, and they'll be home in time for tea.
Celtic's Tuesday afternoon adventure in the Europa League ended in success as two goals in the second half saw off Hungarian champions Ferencvaros.
Celtic's strikes couldn't have been more different. While Kyogo Furuhashi's opener was sublime from the pass to the touch to the finish, the second was comical, and eventually adjudged as an own-goal despite David Turnbull's involvement.
The result propels the Scottish Premiership side off the bottom of Group G at the expense of their opponents, and provides them with the momentum and belief needed for the rest of their European campaign.
They won't have long to put it to test with the return match in Budapest scheduled for 16 days' time, and you'll be able to follow the action with us right here.
Until then, thanks for joining us this afternoon, and enjoy the rest of you evening.
POSTECOGLOU POST-MATCH
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou believes his side's performance in the first half set the basis for the second period in which they blew Ferencvaros away.
It was a really good performance. We started well, put them under pressure and got control of the game which meant they had to work really hard just to stifle us. In the second half, we had a feeling they’d tire because they had been working so hard and it opened up for us. We scored a brilliant first goal and could have had a few more after.
BHOYS DONE GOOD
Which Celtic players excelled on Tuesday afternoon? And who will have to show more in the coming weeks?
Here's how Alan Potts rated the Hoops following their 2-0 Europa League win over Ferencvaros.
OG DEAR, DAVID
David Turnbull's smile didn't last for long.
It now appears that UEFA have credited Celtic's second this evening as a Miha Blazic own-goal.
HOOPS ON THE UP
Celtic moved off the bottom of Group G, and will now be eyeing up the return match in Hungary in 16 days' time for another three points. Over the same period, the top two sides - Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis - also meet twice.
- Betis v Leverkusen (Oct 21)
- Ferencvaros v Celtic (Nov 4)
- Leverkusen v Betis (Nov 4)
TURNBULL HAPPY TO TAKE CREDIT
A smiling David Turnbull admitted he was fortunate to find himself back on the scoresheet, but is ready to claim Celtic's second despite the last touch looking as though it came off a Ferencvaros defender.
I was hoping it was mine! It’s obviously good to get another goal, and no matter how they go in, they all count. At the weekend, I scored one of my better goals, and then tonight, it’s a mishit and then a tap in. I kicked over the ball and topped it, but I’ve seen the goalie dive and thought 'I’ve still got a chance at this' so just threw myself at it.
David TurnbullSKIPPER SALUTES FANS
Celtic captain Callum McGregor has paid tribute to the 50,000 Celtic fans that turned up this afternoon to roar their side on to victory.
It was an excellent performance. I thought we dominated right throughout the game and we had loads of chances. It was a great night for us and for the supporters. They were brilliant turning out in their numbers for a really difficult kick-off time so I want to thank them for their efforts as well.
Callum McGregorFT: CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
Celtic are off the mark in Group G thanks to second half goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and David Turnbull. It's no more than the Hoops deserved, after finally finding the cutting edge to match their dominance. The margin of victory should have been more, but the Hoops have at least built a platform now for the remainder of the group stage.
PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
IT'S ALL OVER AT CELTIC PARK!CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
90+1. Jota! Wide! The Portuguese playmaker should have capped his performance with a deserved goal.
It's brilliant work from Johnston, who this time takes on Jota's role by prising open the Ferencvaros defence.
His through ball is a delight, but Jota is unable to replicate Kyogo's finish, and instead pushes his effort wide.
CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
90. Three minutes of stoppage time are signalled by the fourth official.
The Celtic fans don't want the game to end now, they're loving this. Perhaps the Tuesday afternoon fixture is the future.
CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
89. Ferencvaros' last throw of the dice is a hopeful one from Ryan Mmaee, but ultimately useless. The striker's long range strike is seen heading for Bridgeton station.
CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
86. The third Celtic change sees Mikey Johnston on for Kyogo. The Japanese forward departs to a hero's ovation, bowing to the home crowd as he goes.
CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
85. A big chance for Turnbull to make it three!
Another exquisite Jota pass puts the midfielder in the clear. His first touch is good, but his second slides his shot wide of the post from point blank range.
CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
83. Celtic Park is bouncing now, and the Glasgow side are now just minutes away from getting their Europa League campaign off the ground.
The Hoops will leapfrog their opponents into third place.
CELTIC 2-0 FERENCVAROS
81. What's the opposite of a goal of the season contender?
Celtic double their lead with one of the worst goals you're ever likely to see, but do you know what? The Celtic players, Ange Postecoglou and the home support will not care one bit.
After scoring a stunner at Motherwell, David Turnbull has been credited with this one despite his horror miss in the build-up. The midfielder miscued completely in front of goal after Jota had squared to him in space.
However, in his attempts to atone for his error, Turnbull dived in and got lucky as Denes Dibusz's save bounced back off him and a defender to loop in to the empty net.
It's going to be Celtic's afternoon!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!
CELTIC HAVE A SECOND GOAL!!CELTIC 1-0 FERENCVAROS
80. Giakoumakis with the overhead kick! That would have been spectacular!
The Greek striker shows that strength again to take Kyogo's cross on his chest away from his marker, and then executes an acrobatic effort that flies just over the bar.
CELTIC 1-0 FERENCVAROS
78. Giakoumakis is putting himself about, and has already combined well with Turnbull on a couple of occasions.
He's a physical presence too, and shows his strength by holding off his marker and then winning a free-kick on halfway.
CELTIC 1-0 FERENCVAROS
76. How has that stayed out?! David Turnbull whips over a corner from the left that travels through a huge crowd of players and drops just wide of the far post. All it needed was a touch.
I'm starting to think Celtic are never going to score from a corner again.
CELTIC 1-0 FERENCVAROS
75. It's another Hoops change. Off goes teenager Adam Montgomery and here comes Liam Scales for his Celtic Europa League debut.
CELTIC 1-0 FERENCVAROS
74. It's only 5pm but the light is beginning to fade in Glasgow. The rain clouds overhead are looking ominous.
CELTIC 1-0 FERENCVAROS
72. Here come those changes.
Giorgos Giakoumakis and his fine goalscoring pedigree is introduced to the action, taking the place of Liel Abada while there's also an old-school substitution: Nir Bitton is on for Tom Rogic.
