Newcastle United fans have enjoyed seeing Graeme Jones attend the under-23 game last night.
Jones gets to work
Newcastle’s youngsters were in action against Wolves, in a game which they lost 3-2.
Jones was clearly keen to get a look at some of the young talent breaking through at the club.
And Newcastle fans have praised Jones for making the effort to go and watch the development side, as it was something which Steve Bruce very rarely did.
Staying around?
Jones may only be in temporary charge at Newcastle, but his decision to go and watch the club’s under-23’s perhaps hints that he could be kept around for the long-term.
The interim boss has generally been praised by the Magpies for the work that he has done on the training ground since arriving.
Whether any of Newcastle’s development squad will now be considered for a first-team place remains to be seen.
Jones has made a fairly solid start to life in the Newcastle dugout, although his back-to-basics approach may only be accepted on a short-term basis.
Newcastle adopted a far more defensive tactic against Crystal Palace and fought their way to a 1-1 draw at the weekend, as they look to get out of the relegation zone.
