Dunfermline sack Peter Grant with Pars rock bottom of Championship

DUNFERMLINE have sacked manager Peter Grant after just 12 league games with the club bottom of the Championship table.
The Pars are yet to register a league win this season and sit two points adrift of Morton.
The East End Park side raced into an early 2-0 lead at Arbroath yesterday before going down 4-2.
That proved to be Grant's final act in the dugout, with Greg Shields and Steven Whittaker to take over in an interim basis.
A club statement read: “DAFC can confirm today that is has sadly parted company with manager, Peter Grant.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Peter for his efforts, hard work and professionalism during his time at East End Park, and we wish him and his family every success in the future.
“A fresh robust recruitment process to find a replacement for Peter to lead out club forward will start immediately.
“In the meantime, Greg Shields and Steven Whittaker have agreed to lead the team on an interim basis, and they will be supported by Sports Director, Thomas Meggie.”

"However, I see how much the team is already fighting for the club and the team, and Peter and the coaching team are working tirelessly to turn things around. I believe that we can only overcome this situation by all of us sticking together.
"Football wise, the coaching team will continue to work on the balance between defence and offense in the coming weeks in order to be able to score goals.

"Clearly, when you are not winning games confidence is affected, but positive encouragement rather than criticism is what we need from the stands at this moment as that will help us as a club.
"It is always easy to find someone to blame. In football, it`s usually the coach.
