PSG would have to pay eye-popping fee to Sergio Ramos to terminate flop's contract

Sergio Ramos hasn't played a single minute for PSG this season due to injury, but the French giants will have to pay a huge fee if they want to cancel his deal

Paris Saint Germain will have to fork out an eye-watering sum of money if they decide to terminate Sergio Ramos' contract, reports say.

The Spanish defender arrived in Paris on a free transfer in July, but hasn't made a single appearance for the club following a string of injuries.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that the Ligue 1 giants were thinking of cancelling the former Real Madrid star's two-deal deal, fearing that his injury problems could be more trouble than they're worth.

And speculation suggests PSG would be forced to pay the 35-year-old a whopping £20m to terminate his deal, which still has more than a year-and-a-half left to run.

PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed last month that Ramos hadn't even started training with his new teammates because of his injuries.

“Unfortunately, Ramos hasn't started training with the squad yet,” the former Tottenham Hotspur boss told Radio Marca.

“He is close, though. We hope that it will be as soon as possible. We're happy with how he is progressing. He's a great champion and nobody can doubt his competitive instinct and footballing ability.

“Things aren't going well for him, but he can deal with it.”

Ramos is just one of a number of big summer signings for PSG that have failed to hit the ground running.

Lionel Messi, most notably, hasn't managed a single league goal yet, and was hooked at half time during last weekend's victory over Lille.

Despite this, PSG find themselves eight points clear at the top of Ligue 1, and are a point ahead of second-placed Manchester City in their Champions League group.

They return to action on Wednesday with a visit to the Red Bull Arena for their clash with RB Leipzig.
