Hull City manager Grant McCann expects a tough, physical game against West Brom tonight

Hull City head coach Grant McCann knows his side are in for another tough test as they prepare to face West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns tonight (Wednesday).

The Tigers have won just two games this season, which has left them sitting three points from safety and will travel to Albion having lost their past four games, most recently a tight 1-0 defeat against Coventry City.

And the 41-year-old expects a tough physical game when they visit the Hawthorns this evening.

He told HullLive : "It's a team that's probably expected to win the division, it will be a tough game against a physical team.

"The manager there did a really good job at Barnsley and he's started really well at West Brom, so we'll look forward to it.

"We've got to dissect (the Coventry game) and we've got to make sure we understand the areas where we need to improve."

Having helped the side back into Championship after being given faith by the board following relegation the season before, McCann admits the current situation is difficult.

"It does hurt, for me it does hurt. I've got to focus on my players and my staff," he added.

"There's going to be a lot of experts out there who will tell us that we should play this or we should play that or we should do this.

"Listen, for me, the only people I'll listen to is my staff and my players because that's where the answers are."

Despite struggling to put together a run in the Championship this season, McCann believes the manner this team have lost by small margins leaves them in good stead, even as an uphill battle approaches.

"It's been difficult this season, it's not an excuse though. We understand that results don't look good for us at the present time.

"We are learning and we are trying to find out feet at this level, we'll get there," he added. "I've touched on this before, a lot of teams have been smashed in this league five and six nil, we haven't.

"We're in every game and we feel as if we continue to try and perform, results will turn."
