EDDIE Howe has confirmed the make up of his backroom staff at Newcastle United with Graeme Jones staying amongst the coaching set up.
Jones has been in interim charge of the team while the club conducted their search for a new boss following the dismissal of Steve Bruce. He drew two and lost one of his three games in temporary charge.
Howe brings his trusted soldiers to the front at St James’ Park with Jason Tindall, who took over from Howe was manager of Bournemouth, coming to Newcastle.
First team coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone along with Head of Sport Science Dan Hodges have all left Bouremouth to rejoin Howe at Newcastle.
While the backroom staff is largely made up of men who made Bournemouth a hugely successful side, Howe says adding a new man to his team in Jones was something he wanted.
He said: “Graeme Jones is still in the mix and I’m delighted to work with Graeme.
“I think adding someone new to that team was something that I considered during my break and something that I positively wanted to do.
“Having Graeme already here and someone that I know and respect and really like, I think it’s going to be a perfect match for us.”
Howe has taken charge of two training sessions with his new look backroom staff.
While it's early days with his players, he’s happy with what he’s seen so far.
He added: “I’ve done quite a bit of shouting in the two days training that I’ve been here but it’s been a really good two days of training.
“We’ve worked the players hard and I think it’s been very good in terms of what we’ve delivered and what they’ve delivered back to me.
“In terms of the areas we need to improve, I’ve watched a lot of football and do a bit of media work in my time out which helped me stay very up to date with what teams were doing so I watched Newcastle play a bit before coming here.
“I feel like I’ve got a good idea of the team’s strengths and weaknesses and areas that we can improve.”
