  • STEVE CLARKE POST MATCH

Steve Clarke was full of praise for young defender Nathan Patterson who was key in the win over Moldova, picking up a goal and an assist.

"It was the performance of a young player who is going to develop into a really good player.
"Obviously it was a great finish for the goal... nice finish with his left foot.
"Which as a former full back myself I can recognise is something that right back's don't often do.
"The second goal Patterson was involved again... good ball in and Che Adams was in the right place."

  • CRAIG GORDON SPEAKS

Penalty hero Craig Gordon says there was a good omen today for his saving antics on the one year anniversary of David Marshall completing the same feat in Serbia.

"It is the day for Scottish goalies to save penalties.
"It was exactly a year ago today that David Marshall saved the one in Serbia.
"So it must be a good omen for Scottish goalies.
"I spoke to him today about that and it was my turn tonight."

  • NATHAN PATTERSON SPEAKS

Nathan Patterson had a fine evening in Moldova picking up a goal and an assist in the 2-0 win.

He was quizzed after the game on a strange week, after the departure of Steven Gerrard at Ibrox and netting his first Scotland goal.

"That is just football, things happen week by week.
"You just need to take it in your stride and I have done that.
"I have done it my whole career and it has paid off."

  • PATTERSON MAKES HISTORY

It was not only Nathan Patterson's first Scotland goal this evening in Moldova.

But it was also the first Scotland goal scored by a Rangers player since 2011.

The last Light Blues star to score for Scotland was Steven Naismith a decade ago.
