Ryan Christie believes his experience of high-intensity Old Firm battles can help him in his next Bournemouth challenge - Millwall away.

The Cherries are pushing for promotion back to the English Premier League and the ambitious Championship club recruited Christie from Celtic to aid that cause.

Scott Parker's side are seven points clear in an automatic promotion spot ahead of a trip to Millwall this evening.

A trip to the old Den was regarded as one of the most intimidating in English football in the 1980s and while it's not quite as fearsome now, the Lions have a reputation for making it hostile for visiting teams.

And Christie has noted the match could be similar to his experiences playing Rangers with Celtic, and that European nights with the Hoops often resulted in similar pressure.

The attacking midfielder has yet to score in the Championship but he has five assists.

"My first couple of Old Firms were a bit manic and it opened your eyes a bit," Christie told Bournemouth 's club media.

“There were a few European ties with Celtic when you go away to different countries and it can be very hostile.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have the experience of going to these places, having to deal with it and putting it to the back of your mind.

"Hopefully, that helps me at Millwall."
