Gary Pallister has told Manchester United why Jadon Sancho has started to rekindle his Borussia Dortmund form.

A move four years in the making, England forward Sancho finally touched down at Old Trafford during the summer transfer window after the Bundesliga side agreed to sanction his £72.9million return to the UK.

The 21-year-old netted 50 goals and provided 64 assists in 137 games during four seasons with Dortmund.

However, since touching down in the Premier League, the fleet-footed Manchester City graduate failed to register any direct goal contribution before scoring twice in as many games against Villarreal and Chelsea.

That barren run - lasting 14 matches - ended on a night when Michael Carrick took charge for the first time.

Carrick has handed over the United baton to interim manager Ralf Rangnick after the win over Arsenal - and in doing so, supplying an in-form Sancho will be a major bonus for the incoming German.

Pallister said: "I think we've been waiting for those performances. Listen, I know what it's like to go to Manchester United with that expectation and it can be overwhelming.

"What we've seen over the last few games is that belief coming back.

How many goals will Sancho score this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

"Goals help, but he's not taking easy options now. He's driving at defences and that's what we saw at Dortmund - he's creative, he can score goals.

"It can take time to get used to the magnitude of Old Trafford. It's a different beast to Dortmund.

"He's still a young lad and we can see he's starting to get the bit between his teeth. When he does, we can all see his talent."
