Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have wished Erik Lamela a speedy recovery after he required surgery for a shoulder injury.

The Sevilla winger, who left Spurs in the summer, posted on Twitter that ‘everything went well’ with his surgery and his ‘recovery starts today’.

“Everything went well,” he wrote. “I start recovery today. Thank you for all the messages – let’s go guys.”

It seems as though Lamela will be out of action for several months, according to Football Espana.

It’s a body blow for the player and his new club because he only recently joined them.

Lamela was part of a swap deal involving Bryan Gil in the summer – his replacement has started life in North London in a pretty slow and quiet fashion.

The same can’t actually be said for Lamela because he has found his goalscoring boots over in Spain.

The 29-year-old has scored four goals and supplied one assist from his 12 La Liga matches this term.

To put that into context, the Rabona expert only scored three league goals during his past two seasons in the Premier League.

He’s clearly finding life that bit easier in La Liga and he will be looking forward to getting back to action as soon as possible.

Spurs fans mentioned how he is missed in their colours because he was a popular figure during his time at the club.

The only major problem with his game was his inconsistent ways because when he was on song, he was belting out some memorable tunes.
