Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has been slammed for his 'stupidity' on social media on Tuesday night after his needless red card in the loss against RB Leipzig.
The England international received his marching orders three minutes from time, as he needlessly took a swipe at the Portuguese forward Andre Silva's left leg.
While City topped the Group A despite losing in Germany, Walker's sending off means the right back will miss the first leg of the Round of 16 in February and fans did not give him an easy ride online.

He will now miss Manchester City's knockout game after receiving his marching orders

One fan commented his seemingly genuine concern, saying: 'Is everything okay with Kyle Walker... clear red card, but he didn't seem to care.'
Similarly, another user tweeted: 'Kyle Walker for most blatant red card of the season' while another said: 'Kyle Walker is an idiot, stupid red card.'
Another said: 'Kyle Walker getting a red card for stupidity is icing on the cake!'
It was a tough night for Pep Guardiola's side behind closed doors against Leipzig, but they still topped their group.
Martin Keown, who was commentating on the game for BT Sport, was far from impressed with the incident.

'It's looked like one game too many for [Kyle] Walker,' the former Arsenal defender said.
'He didn’t seem to be himself tonight and he’s completely lost his head there. Walker knows he's not at the heights he's set himself.
'He’s frustrated with his performance and at that particular player. He's just lashed out, you can't do that. It's a human reaction but it's going to cost City now in the next round.'
Pep Guardiola also said afterwards that the City defender deserved his red card.
