Stuart Dallas has shared how he ‘kept hearing’ that Leeds were a Premier League club when they were struggling in the Championship, as he told Carl Frampton’s podcast.
The Leeds defender stated that Leeds’ fanbase was ‘Premier League’, but at the time he signed, the club was ‘in a mess’.
Dallas moved to Elland Road from Brentford and he has been one of the club’s best signings in recent years.
The Northern Ireland international has been part of that transformation that has seen them rise from the lower leagues and back to the promised land.
It was nearly 20 years of hurt for the Leeds faithful, who saw their side go from the top of England’s top-flight to even competing in England’s third tier.
Of course, it’s all different now, as Dallas spoke about the size of the club and what he was being told when he first joined.
“We were out of the Premier League for 16 years,” said Dallas. “You kept hearing this comment, ‘Leeds are a Premier League club’. And their fanbase was.
“But, at that time, they were in a mess when I first signed. Certainly, since the new owner has come in, it has progressed massively.
“Now, when you look around the place, there have been some unbelievable changes from when I first signed here.
“I would like to say that the Premier League needs them. Going forward this club is going to get bigger and better.”

Given the way Leeds are going, they won’t want to return back to those dark days because things aren’t exactly going the way they would like in the Premier League.
Injuries haven’t helped them at all and things have seemed to have become worse for the club of late.
The January transfer window is going to be huge for Marcelo Bielsa, but the big problem is that will he spend money?
It’s well-documented that Bielsa likes to work with a small squad, but surely he has to help the squad out here by adding new faces next month?
