Lyon hit with point deduction after Dimitri Payet struck with bottle thrown from stands
Lyon have been hit with a point deduction following some unsavoury scenes in the Choc des Olympiques derby as Marseille star Dimitri Payet was hit with a loaded water bottle
Ligue 1 side Lyon have been hit with a one-point deduction and ordered to play a match behind closed doors after Dimitri Payet was struck with a projectile from the crowd in their game against rivals Marseille.
In a fiery encounter, the Choc des Olympiques derby was suspended after just four minutes when former West Ham midfielder Payet was hit with a loaded water bottle on the side of his face.
Now the league's disciplinary committee, the LFP, have released a statement determining that the game must be replayed without the presence of fans at the Groupama Stadium, though a date is yet to be confirmed.
President of the LFP disciplinary committee Sebastien Deneux said, via ESPN: "Any act of violence against a player, especially a major player, exposes the club responsible to a loss of points.
"The committee also took into consideration the actions of the Lyon club immediately after the incidents.
"I would like to remind you that the Disciplinary Committee cannot take sanctions against fans directly, but is there to judge the responsibility of the clubs."

Payet was preparing to take a corner in front of the travelling Lyon supporters but fell to the deck clutching his head after being hit with the object from the stands.
Though a stretcher was brought onto the field to carry him off, the 34-year-old was able to return to his feet.
He was then walked down the tunnel with medical staff before referee Ruddy Buquet suspended play.
All 22 players were taken back to their respective dressing rooms before the match was abandoned after a two-hour hiatus.
Ligue 1 has now ordered the rearranged fixture to be played behind closed doors with Lyon deducted one point for fan disturbances.
Though Les Gones have already played one match behind closed doors this season.
Their home fixture against Reim was played without any home or away supporters due to the crowd trouble that ensued against Marseille.
