Longstaff to return
As revealed by ChronicleLive, Matty Longstaff’s loan spell at Aberdeen is set to be terminated “as soon as possible”.
The youngster has been unimpressive in his short stint north of the border, making just three league starts and failing to feature at all since the end of November.
Longstaff’s career has stagnated since he burst onto the scene over two years ago with a dramatic winner against Man Utd and he now has just six months left on his current contract.
It is thought that he will train with Eddie Howe, who will then make a judgement on whether he should be shipped back out on loan.
NUFC 'table £84m Vlahovic bid'
Newcastle have reportedly stepped up their chase for Fiorentina goal machine Dusan Vlahovic.
Journalist Fillipo Grassia has told Italian media outlet Calciomercato that Toon chiefs have made a “three-figure-offer” for the 21-year-old, who has bagged 17 goals in 19 games so far this season.
An offer of this magnitude would likely tempt Fiorentina but it remains to be seen whether the player would want to join a side that currently sit 19th in the Premier League.
The Italian press have already compared Vlahovic to Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland, due to their similar age and playing style.
