Villa 'considering' Digne bid

Aston Villa are reportedly 'considering' submitting a bid for Everton defender Lucas Digne.

The French full-back has informed Rafa Benitez of his desire to leave the club during this month's window and has been linked to a number of English and European sides.

Villa are one of the lastest teams rumoured to be plotting a bid, with the Daily Mail reporting that Steven Gerrard's side are looking for 'experience' alongside their youthful backline.

Everton expected to make 'improved offer' for Longstaff

Everton are reportedly expected to make an 'improved offer' for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.

The Blues have continued to be linked with the 24-year-old, who Rafa Benitez previously worked with at St James' Park.

Accroding to the Express, Benitez is 'keen to lure' Longstaff to Goodison Park and the Toffees are reportedly ready to make a second offer having already seen a 'bid rejected'.

Everton 'interested' in David Neres

Everton are said to be 'interested' in Ajax winger David Neres.

The Brazilian has been with the Dutch side since 2016 after joining from Sao Paulo.

The 24-year-old has scored three goals and registered two assists in 15 Eredivisie outings this season, with his best campaign to date arriving in 2017/18 (14 goals and 12 assists in 32 league games).

Lyon and Newcastle are also understood to be plotting moves for Neres, with the former proposing a loan offer with an option to buy.

That's according to Jeunes Footeux, who add that the French side view Neres as a possible Xherdan Shaqiri replacement.

'One defeat from crisis' - National media react to Everton FA Cup win at Hull City

Everton were made to fight for their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup after battling back from being a goal down against Hull City to progress.

Rafa Benitez's side conceded from a set-piece within the opening minute of the match but hit back with goals from Demarai Gray and Andre Gomes before the break.

There was nothing to separate the teams at the full-time whistle, after Hull equalised, which would ordinarily have resulted in a third-round replay.

But, with different rules in place this campaign due to COVID-19, extra-time followed.

And Andros Townsend stepped up for the Blues with a curling effort from outside the box to win the tie, keeping the club's dreams of silverware for the 2021/22 campaign alive.

Here is how the national media reacted to Everton's triumph.

'The frailties that have haunted Benitez and his side remain'

Aaron Bower of the Guardian wrote:

"There was a moment, seconds before Demarai Gray’s equaliser which jolted Everton to life in this dramatic FA Cup tie, when Rafa Benítez may have begun to wonder if the size of the task facing him was greater than even he had envisaged.

"His side were being firmly tested by Hull City, were already a goal behind and looked in real danger of falling further adrift. The pressure was intensifying, underlined by chants and banners from the travelling supporters aimed towards the club’s Spanish manager.
