Andy Gray makes Nathan Patterson Everton transfer claim and Gary Stevens comparison
Everton great Andy Gray has been speaking about Nathan Patterson's move to Goodison Park
Andy Gray believes Nathan Patterson has all the right characteristics to become a hit with Everton supporters and has likened the youngster to Blues great Gary Stevens.
Patterson became Everton’s second signing of the January transfer window when he joined from Rangers last week.
The Scotland international was the subject of two failed bids from Everton in the summer as they sought to bring in competition for Seamus Coleman.
But after failing to land the youngster during the summer transfer window, the Blues eventually secured the services of Patterson just a couple of days into the winter window.

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright led negotiations with the Scottish champions and, while the fee is officially undisclosed, the ECHO understands it to be £11 million inclusive of add-ons.
And speaking on the transfer, Gray believes his fellow countrymen will be capable of making the step up to the Premier League and will become a hit with Everton fans.
“Absolutely, Nathan can make an impact. I like him a lot,” the former Blues forward told evertonfc.com. “He’s gone into the international set-up and slid into that team quite comfortably and quite confidently, which I like.
“He doesn’t look out of place. He’s not walking about the football pitch playing for Scotland and thinking: ‘I don’t know if I should be here’.
“He’s got a really good attitude and I think he will be a massive success and a great signing for Everton, I really do.
“It’s a fantastic club. It’s very much fan-driven. The supporters are the heartbeat of the Club, just as they are at Rangers. Nathan is joining a similar club in that respect.
“They love that kind of player at Everton. Seamus Coleman has been a massive success - one of the best buys ever for Everton at £60,000 from Irish football.
“And even in my day, a defender like Gary Stevens who went to Rangers and was a huge success, was that kind of swashbuckling full-back.
"Like Nathan, he had plenty of pace and plenty of dynamism down that side. Everton fans will take to him, without question.”
