Aaron Ramsey and the Rangers dressing room 'excitement' as Brian Laudrup puts star signing in 'next bracket'

The 31-year-old has joined the Premiership champions until the end of the season and the Dane is excited over what will come.

Delighted Rangers icon Brian Laudrup is convinced the signing of Aaron Ramsey is an inspired move that will give the dressing room a jolt.

The 31-year-old has joined the Scottish Premiership champions on loan until the end of the season from Juventus and boasts an enviable CV.

Laudrup knows all about Ibrox all-stars and shared a dressing room with Paul Gascoigne during a trophy-laden spell together in the 90s.

And he's backing Ramsey to write his his own story in Glasgow and reckons the former Arsenal star brings a different level of quality.

Speaking in his Daily Mail column, he said: "Can you imagine the reaction in the Rangers dressing room when the players found out Aaron Ramsey was on his way to the club?

"The place would have been filled with genuine excitement. All of a sudden, the disappointment of Saturday's two dropped points might have diminished a little. It's the kind of news that adds an extra bounce to preparations for tomorrow night's crucial Old Firm game.

"This is a major coup for Rangers. I don't think you could say otherwise. The one question clearly surrounds the problems Ramsey has had with injuries. He hasn't played that much at all this season and seems to have struggled a wee bit in Italy recently.

"But we are talking about a player who did extremely well at Arsenal. One who has played in two European Championships and scored a number of crucial goals.

"How highly do I rate him? I'd call him international class. World-class is a heavy term. I like to leave it for the likes of Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappe.

"But Ramsey is in that next bracket international class. He is capable of being a match-winner on a big stage, 100 per cent.

"Obviously, this deal is only happening because Juventus are willing to cut ties. But if Rangers can keep Ramsey fit, they are getting something they simply don't have at the club. We are talking a midfielder with a genuine goal threat, who has played at the highest level and who brings fantastic experience. What's not to like?

"At his best, Ramsey is a very powerful player, combining workrate and high-level technique. The timing of his runs into the box, which creates a lot of his goals, is second to none.

"If Rangers can get just some of these qualities out of him, he will be a real crowd-pleaser at Ibrox."

Laudrup is convinced Ramsey's impact won't be limited to the pitch and he believes the new arrival will inspire some of Ibrox's best players.

And it will also allow the versatile midfielder to rediscover his best form after a trying time in Italy over recent months.

He added: "Guys like Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent will have watched Ramsey perform wonders for Arsenal when they were growing up.

"He will get maximum respect from his colleagues. Everyone will listen to what he has to say. It will be a little similar to what happened in Steven Gerrard's reign when he brought in the likes of Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe.

"Ramsey is younger than they were, but he has been around the top level of football for so long now. He's seen most things the game can throw at someone.

"If he can now use Rangers as a springboard to get back close to his best, then the club will have a tremendous asset on their hands."
