Greenwood has also been suspended from appearing in Ultimate Team (FUT) packs and Ultimate Draft.

However, his FUT 79-player item remains active, and can still be traded on the transfer market but EA have fixed his price range to stop players making a profit on his card.

The decision came with FIFA's latest database update, which was released on all platforms including PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

Greenwood, 20, remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

Allegations of violence have been brought against him by an 18-year-old woman.

Graphic images and audio alleging Greenwood attacked the woman circulated online on Sunday morning.

Greater Manchester Police announced on Tuesday that Greenwood had been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

EA Sports, the FIFA game maker, said: "Mason Greenwood has been removed from active squads in FIFA 22 and has also been suspended from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) packs and Ultimate Draft."

United have said that Greenwood will not train at the club or be considered for selection as the police inquiries continue.

A statement from the club on Sunday afternoon read: “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”

Nike, meanwhile, have suspended their sponsorship deal with Greenwood amid the allegations.

The sportswear giant said in a statement: "We have suspended our relationship with Mason Greenwood. We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation."
