Kidderminster goalscorer vs West Ham is 'caretaker' of players' house and 'loves cleaning'

The man who put Kidderminster ahead in their fourth-round FA Cup tie against West Ham is considered a 'caretaker' of the players' house who 'loves cleaning'

Alex Penny, who got Kidderminster off the mark in their FA Cup loss to West Ham, is described as a ‘caretaker’ of the club.

In a piece with BBC Sport, Kiddy, who play their football in the National League North, were assessed ahead of their game against the Hammers at the Aggborough Stadium.

The article took a look at each player from the club, including defender Penny, with it saying that he enjoys doing house chores.

It read: “The oldest 24-year-old you are likely to meet. Kidderminster own a big house near the training ground for players to stay over in if they live far away. Penny has basically converted it into his own home.

“We call him the 'caretaker' because he cleans the house, does all the washing, and likes to keep it in order.

“On the pitch, he is one to watch from corners and is very aggressive getting on the end of set-pieces.”

Penny latched onto a loose ball following an inswinging free-kick from the left flank. His goal on 18 minutes set the stadium alight.

Declan Rice then pulled one back in the dying embers of the game, however, scoring one minute into injury time.

Then Jarrod Bowen sealed the win for the Irons in the final minutes of extra time, the game ending 2-1.

Ahead of the game, Harriers' manager Russell Penn has urged his side to just go for it when they come up against Thomas Tuchel’s side.

It was a shock start

They are a better team than us, we know that," admitted Penn via Worcester News.

"They are going to have a lot of ball but I want us to enjoy it, be confident with the ball and when we get into good positions, let's have a go.

"I don't want us to be nervous but, naturally, they are going to be and adrenaline will be up to the eyeballs, but we have to kerb that because there is still a game to play.

"They are going to see 6,000 through the turnstiles, lights everywhere, flashing phones, but they have to get rid of that one second after kick-off because then it's game on and it's 0-0 until anyone scores."
