Stephen Glass facing Robert Snodgrass transfer fight as Aberdeen boss concedes 'good players are in demand'

The Scotland cap is wanted at Pittodrie after leaving Championship side West Brom.

Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass admitted he faces a fight to land Robert Snodgrass.

Record Sport broke the story the Dons would be keen to land the former Scotland star - if he decides he wants to return to Scotland.

Glass refused to speak about free agent Snodgrass specifically but club sources confirmed he is very much on their radar.

The Aberdeen manager is still looking to add but knows there will be competition for the out-of-contract players that the Dons have their eyes on.

Glass, when asked about adding to his squad, answered “Yes, of course.

“The likelihood of which I don’t know and I don’t control.

“We would like to, that’s definite.

“One thing is we do believe in the group of players that are here.

“It’s not like we are sitting panicking, we have to get X,Y, Z.

“We have got a right good group of players here.

“Anything, as it was in the window, would be done to help us not just for the sake of bringing in the body.

“As it is with the players we signed in the window as well.

“The same principle applies always. Good players are in demand.”

Aberdeen have under-achieved so far this season but when it has come to games against Rangers and Celtic they have stood up and been counted.

They have drawn with Rangers twice and lost by the odd goal to Celtic in their two previous meetings.

Glass hopes it can go the other way at Pittodrie tonight against Ange Postecoglou ’s in-form Hoops.

He acknowledged: “It’s not a game where you have to make the running and the other team isn’t going to open up.

“It’s the type of game that we’ve handled pretty well.

“We’ll try and impose ourselves on the game as early as we can, fully in the knowledge of what they’re capable of.

“It’s not something you go in absolutely fearing, I don’t think you can approach a game like that.”
