Leon Balogun injury latest as Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst provides update on defender

LEON BALOGUN will have his latest injury set-back examined today after the Rangers defender was replaced in the early stages against Hibs.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men ran out 2-0 winners in the Ibrox showdown under the lights.

But they suffered a blow after just 15 minutes when Balogun could not continue.

Borna Barisic climbed off the bench to replace the stopper as Rangers kept pace at the top of the Premiership table.

Speaking post-match, Van Bronckhorst revealed he wasn't exactly sure of the injury suffered by Balogun but it will be looked at today.

He said: "With regards to Leon, I don't know exactly what he has but he couldn't continue.

"We have to assess him tomorrow."

Skipper James Tavernier fired Rangers ahead from the penalty spot with just five minutes on the clock.

On Morelos, Aribo said: "He has been amazing since he came back, the boys are loving him.

"He's strong, he can finish with both feet.

"It's amazing to have him."

Ange Postecoglou's men came out on top in a five-goal thriller at Aberdeen to stay in top spot.

Celtic raced into a two-goal advantage with Jota and Matt O'Riley hitting the back of the net inside the first 20 minutes.

But Aberdeen bounced back in the second period with a quick-fire double through Christian Ramirez and Lewis Ferguson.

However, the Hoops restored their lead just one minute later with Jota grabbing his second of the evening to secure a huge three points.
