Stephen Glass sacked by Aberdeen as boss pays the price for horror run

The Scottish Cup defeat to Motherwell is the final straw for Dave Cormack.

Aberdeen have sacked boss Stephen Glass after just 11 months.

The Dons gaffer has been under increasing scrutiny from the disgruntled Pittodrie support after a lacklustre campaign so far.

The club sit in ninth spot in the Premiership and were sent crashing out of the Scottish Cup by Motherwell on Saturday.

Glass replaced Derek McInnes in March last year and was offered financial backing by chairman Dave Cormack to overhaul the squad.

Cormack was at Fir Park to watch the torrid display against The Steelmen and after a meeting this morning wielded the axe.

Coaches Allan Russell and Henry Apaloo have also left the club. A caretaker looks set to be appointed to take the side to the end of the campaign.

Following defeat to Motherwell, Glass insisted he would not walk away from the club.
