Aberdeen move for St Mirren boss Jim Goodwin but Buddies reject initial approach

ABERDEEN have had an approach for Jim Goodwin rejected by St Mirren.
SunSport exclusively revealed on Sunday that Stephen Glass had been sacked by the Pittodrie club after 11 months at the helm.
Chairman Dave Cormack is on the hunt for his next boss and identified the Buddies gaffer as a candidate for the vacant position.
However, an approach to speak to the Irishman has been KO'd.
The Paisley side are insisting on a compensation package being agreed first with a clause in his contract believed to be around £250,000.
Other names in the frame include ex-Hibs boss Jack Ross while former Celtic midfielder Paul Lambert has also stated an interest in the role.
Aberdeen are in action tonight as they host bottom club St Johnstone at Pittodrie.
Barry Robson is in temporary charge of first-team matters with Neil Simpson, Scott Anderson and Scott Brown all assisting the former Celtic and Dundee United midfielder.

A short club statement on Glass' departure read: "Aberdeen FC this morning confirms the departure of manager Stephen Glass.
"Stephen has left the Dons with immediate effect alongside coaches Allan Russell and Henry Apaloo.
