Darren Fletcher reveals verdict on Amad Diallo’s Rangers loan so far as he delivers update on Manchester United ace

DARREN FLETCHER insists Amad Diallo is 'doing really well' at Rangers.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst landed the big money Manchester United signing on loan in January as he boosted his ranks for the title run-in with Celtic.

However, the attacker has so far failed to show the form that earned him his switch from Atalanta to Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old has netted just one goal in five appearances to date for the Scottish champions but he did catch the eye in a bounce game with Brentford recently, scoring twice.

Despite his lack of minutes in recent weeks, the Man Utd technical director insists the winger has been a success in Glasgow.

Quoted by The Athletic, Fletcher said: "We currently have 13 young players and academy products on loan and playing regularly in other divisions or leagues.

"Hopefully we'll see players like Brandon Williams, Teden Mengi, Jimmy Garner, Ethan Laird, Tahiti Chong and Amad Diallo reap the benefits of that.

"All of them are doing really well on loan and we're excited to bring them back in pre-season to see how they fare with out first-team players."

Diallo made a stunning start to life at Rangers by netting inside the first couple of minutes of his debut against Ross County.

But he's struggled for time on the park of late as he looks to break back into Van Bronckhorst's starting team.

Next up for the Light Blues is an away clash at St Johnstone as the champions look to bring their patchy run of form domestically to an end.

Since the winter break they have won just three of their eight league outings including Sunday's home draw with Motherwell.

Celtic currently lead the way at the top of the Premiership table by three points with ten matches to go.

Meanwhile, Celtic and Rangers have struck a big money deal to go head-to-head in a historic Old Firm clash in Australia.

The two Glasgow giants have agreed to play each other Down Under in November this year.

A lucrative 'friendly' has been signed and sealed for a clash in Sydney while Scottish football stops for a month during the World Cup.

Gers have yet to confirm their participation in the derby clash on the other side of the world.

But Celts have rubber-stamped their involvement in the four-team tournament which will also involve Aussie A-League sides.
