Former Manchester United prospect Ravel Morrison ended his eight-year wait for a goal in England after scoring a crucial brace for Wayne Rooney's Derby County side.

His double helped the Rams move closer to safety after they beat fellow relegation-strugglers Barnsley. It was his first goal in his native country since he found the back of the net in QPR's 5-2 win over Nottingham Forest in April 2014.

Morrison helped his team continue their quest for survival after their progression this season has been thwarted by numerous point deductions following their trouble off the pitch. The former Reds ' player's inspired performance led them to within touching distance of safety and earned praise from England legend Gary Lineker.

A beautiful piece of football saw the ball played through the lines, dummied by the attacker for Luke Plange to tee him up one-on-one with the goalkeeper, before finding the back of the net with a sumptuous dink. Replayed over 1.4m times on Twitter, Lineker came across the finish from the 29-year-old and tweeted: "Oh we like that."

Morrison made three senior appearances for the Reds, none in the Premier League, but was a part of the FA Youth Cup-winning side that featured Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard in 2011. However, he failed to live up to the quality that he exuded and slowly drifted away enduring stints with West Ham, QPR and Cardiff with spells abroad before moving to Pride Park at the start of the season.
