Ander Herrera has revealed he is suffering from viral conjunctivitis which has kept him out of action for much longer than expected, though he hopes he will return soon.

Former Manchester United fan favourite Herrera had been a key player for Paris Saint-Germain this season, playing 26 games in all competitions, but now hasn't made an appearance for nearly a month. He was last involved in a match on February 19 as an unused substitute in a shock defeat to Nantes.

PSG announced that an eye infection is what is keeping the midfielder out of action a week ago and now he has spoken about the problem himself. Herrera revealed that his initial recovery time was supposed to only be a few days but he is now entering his third week of having the infection, with it now affecting his vision while trying to train on his own.

"I’ve been training on my own to keep in shape and today I tried to join up with the team but I’ve had serious problems with my vision and had to stop. I’m working with specialists and I hope to be back with the team soon. Thanks again for all your messages."

Herrera left Old Trafford for Paris in 2019 and has made 93 appearances for the Ligue 1 club up to now.
