Cristiano Ronaldo and Tom Brady lauded by Man Utd fans as 'two GOATS' meet on pitch

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo shared a moment with NFL legend Tom Brady after the final whistle at Old Trafford and fans could barely contain their excitement

Two of sports’ greatest players met at Old Trafford on Saturday evening when Cristiano Ronaldo crossed paths with Tom Brady.

Ronaldo enjoyed a brilliant night, scoring a scintillating hat-trick to help Manchester United beat Tottenham 3-2 in the Premier League.

The Portuguese star blasted in from 25 yards, tapped in Jadon Sancho’s cross and powered in a header to record the 59th hat-trick of his illustrious career.

The goals moved his tally onto 807 across his entire career and ensured his place in the record books, with FIFA acknowledging the fact he has now passed Austrian-Czech Josef Bican, who had held the record with 805.

Ronaldo’s remarkable performance and historic achievement was witnessed by NFL great Brady, who watched on from the stands in Manchester.

He was spotted by the television cameras taking in the game and tweeted to explain his allegiances.

“Here we go! @Cristiano vs. @HKane. I might fist pump if you score Harry but I’m riding with @ManUtd today,” he wrote before kick-off.

It was all too much for some fans, who reacted with a mixture of awe and humour on Twitter.

“Ronaldo showing Tom Brady who the real goat is…” wrote one fan.

“Ronaldo taking a picture with a fan and his family. Tom Brady touching the goat to see if he's human,” added another CR7 fan.

“Superbowl equivalent in this case would be Champions League. Since CL is more prestigious than PL league titles. So yeah, Ronaldo and Brady are similar as far as championships go,” reasoned one commenter.

“I started supporting a football club primarily due to the emergence of the person on the left, and became a fan of a sport primarily thanks to the one on the right. It's how big this picture means to me. Two GOATs,” wrote one fan in reverence.

“These moments between GOATs of different sports are so cool. Decades from now people will look at these videos and still see how iconic they were, like we see videos of Pele and Maradona from back in the day and rejoice at how awesome it is,” concluded another.
