Ghanaian gold mine owner Bernard Antwi Boasiako has vowed to “restore stability” at Chelsea after confirming his interest in buying the club.

The 45-year-old’s desire to launch a bid emerged last week amid the Blues being hit by heavy sanctions. And it appears the politician and gold guru is unfazed by the whopping £3billion price-tag slapped on the club by Roman Abramovich.

The Daily Mail report that Boasiako has now confirmed his interest through a spokesperson, who highlighted the business mogul’s desire to “enhance the club’s reputation” in Africa. It stems from Boasiako’s personal adoration for Chelsea and club legends Didier Drogba and Michael Essien.

The spokesperson said: “Bernard Antwi Boasiako is exploring a potential offer for Chelsea. Discussions with various parties involved in the sale have taken place.

“Chelsea has a lasting legacy in Africa, players like Didier Drogba and Michael Essien are legends of the club; the opportunity to enhance the club's reputation in Africa is a very tempting prospect. Restoring stability and ensuring there are no job losses are among the priorities.”

According to close sources, his interest comes from the strong links between Chelsea under Abramovich and various African stars. Along with Drogba and Essien, John Obi Mikel, Samuel Eto’o and now Edouard Mendy have all represented the west Londoners, as well as Boasiako’s personal favourite Claude Makelele - who is of Congolese descent.

However, Boasiako’s main trump card in aiding his chances is his pledge to preserve all employment at Chelsea despite the huge uncertainty staff face over their jobs, following the recent sanctions.

Boasiako will reportedly also look to make special concessions for children aged 10 and under at Stamford Bridge in the hope of creating a family atmosphere at Chelsea.

The Ghanaian tycoon has made concrete enquiries in relation to making an offer ahead of Friday's deadline, with his advisers now working on the viability of any bid. He is said to be in contact with a number of London-based consultants ahead of the bid’s cut-off on Friday.
