What Braga boss thinks of Rangers as Carlos Carvalhal hypes Europa League revenge mission

Carvalhal insists his young side should fear nobody left in the competition and believes all the remaining teams have a strong chance of winning it.

Braga boss Carlos Carvalhal has backed his young guns to dump Rangers and reach a European semi final for only the second time in their history.

The Portuguese dumped Monaco to take their place in the last eight where local hero Carvalhal reckons every one of the remaining sides will fancy their chances of going all the way.

Braga stormed to the final of the Europa League in 2011 only to lose 1-0 to fellow Primeira Liga rivals Porto.

And former Swansea boss Carvalhal said of the Rangers draw: “It’s amazing. We are the youngest team in the competition, some boys are just 17-18.

“To play against Rangers is a big target for us in the last eight.

“But we have some expectations. I believe in this moment of the competition all the teams are 50/50.

“We understand Rangers is a very strong team but Monaco was a very strong team also.

“We believe we can go to the next phase.”

Braga progressed after a 3-1 aggregate victory over Monaco was secured with a 1-1 draw in France last night.

Carvalhal's side sit fourth in the Portuguese top flight with 46 points from 26 games - 24 behind leaders Porto.
