Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have been giving their reaction after defender Toti Gomes signed a two-year contract extension with the club until 2027.

Toti has been rewarded for his performances after returning to the club from a loan spell at Swiss side Grasshopper. The Portuguese was bought from Estoril in 2020 before spending the last two seasons in Zurich.

The 23-year-old was then recalled in January by Wolves boss Bruno Lage. His debut came in the 3-1 win against Southampton on January 5.

"This is a reward for Toti for the hard work he's put in while at the club, especially while on loan at Grasshoppers," Wolves' technical director Scott Sellars said. "He's worked very hard on his football and has really developed, then he got the opportunity to come to the club full time and has been excellent in everything he does. January was the first time he'd been to the club.

"We'd watched him out on loan and admired what he was doing, so we gave him the opportunity to come back here in January, and from minute one he showed he's a professional and dedicated young man who works hard on his football."

Here is what the fans had to say...

BlackCountryBob: "Just need to start him now instead of calamity Saiss."

Andrew Bagley: "Good bit of business extending his contract. A ready made replace if/when Saiss leaves."

Andrew Torrey: "Super happy I bought a home kit with his name. Showed such promise over AFCON. Hope he makes a push to start next season!"

Stephen Green: "Great news, going to be some player."

Matt Turner: "Cracking news, Saiss maybe on his way this summer?

Sam Burton: "Very promising player."

Seagz: "Start him instead of Saiss."

Niknaklady: "Looks a very promising young player. Well deserved."

Thomas Janke: "Keep working hard young man, your chances will come."

WednesfieldWolf: "Toti has had two outings against Southampton and Brentford and did well enough. He seemed assured and capable. Quite solid, in fact. As to whether he's a Premier League player, that remains to be seen. It depends how he shapes against the best. I'm not sure Grasshoppers is the best training ground for Premier League talent?"
