MANCHESTER UNITED have competition from Paris Saint-Germain in the fight for Pedro Neto this summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils are eyeing a £50million-plus summer move for the 22-year-old Wolves star.

However, The Daily Mail report that PSG are "monitoring his progress" for the rest of the campaign.

The midfielder recently signed a contract extension until 2027 so Wolves can push up the transfer price for wannabe suitors.

Man Utd could have signed Neto for next to nothing back in 2016 when the he came to Carrington on trial from Portuguese side Braga.

But the youngster didn't do enough to convince them to dive in.

Italian club Lazio snapped up Neto, where he made five appearances, on loan with a permanent clause.

He then cost Wolves just £16m from the Serie A giants.

Now United are understood to regard the winger as a genuine alternative to long-term targets like Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish.

After a serious knee injury, the Portugal international has just returned to action for the Black Country club.

He made his first start in 330 days against Crystal Palace earlier this month.

Speaking to The Express & Star about the lay-off, he said: "It was difficult, I will be honest."

"Sometimes we think that nothing will happen to us and only when we they do happen you have to put your feet on the earth and realise you have a long way to go.

"During these 10 months it was very difficult and I worked very hard a lot.

"I had difficult times but now I’m back and I’m very happy."

Neto and Wolves face Aston Villa at home next Saturday in a Midlands derby.
