Speaking to Liverpool’s club website, Stewart Downing has been waxing-lyrical about Jordan Henderson and his attitude.
Downing, of course, played with Henderson at Anfield, but it’s fair to say that things have changed since the winger departed Merseyside.
Indeed, while Henderson was very much on the fringes during Downing’s time at the club, he’s now the Reds’ captain and an FWA Footballer of the Year winner.
Downing has been blown away by Henderson’s progression, claiming that the midfielder has been improving every single year.
What’s been said?
Downing gave his view on Henderson.
“You’ve got to give him credit for his attitude, sticking at it, improving every year and it’s no surprise he’s gone on because of his attitude,” Downing said.
“He has played for a few managers, played with a lot of different players but he always seems to play every week. That’s why managers rely on him – because of his attitude and his ability.
“The biggest compliment you can give him is he plays every week; he has got world-class players around him and some of them are getting left out, that’s probably the biggest thing I can give to him.”

Improved
The biggest compliment you can give Henderson is that he’s always found a way to improve.
After a decade at Liverpool, it would be easy for the skipper to rest on his laurels safe in the knowledge that he’s got his feet well and truly under the table at Anfield. However, he’s refused to allow his talents to stagnate.
The midfielder is always improving, and that’s why he remains one of the Reds’ most important players despite young stars coming through and big signings arriving.
