Former Chelsea and West Ham star Carlton Cole has claimed that Jose Mourinho's treatment of Joe Cole was 'out of order'.

Mourinho's side had travelled to Craven Cottage in March 2006 in desperate need of a result. However, after Mourinho had grown more and more frustrated at the Cottagers outplaying his side, he hooked Shaun Wright-Phillips and Joe Cole.

The substitution occurred after just 25 minutes, and Carlton Cole blasted Moutinho for the decision. "That was bang out of order what he did to Joe Cole. I think Chelsea were playing Fulham and it was live on TV," Cole said speaking at the Bookmakers.com Evening with the Hammers.

"I think Shaun Wright-Phillips was on one side and Joe Cole was on the other - and he took him off before half-time.

"As a footballer, getting taken off before half-time when you have started the game is like the cardinal sin, because it brings the morale right down.

"Sometimes you can do it if it was a tactical decision, but this one was because he felt Joe wasn't doing the right things on the pitch that he wanted to do, so he showed him up in front of the fans and that was bang out or order to be honest."
