Rene Meulensteen ‘being considered for Man Utd assistant role’ in stunning return for Fergie’s former right-hand man

MANCHESTER UNITED are considering a swoop for Rene Meulensteen to assist Erik ten Hag, according to reports.
The Dutchman served as Sir Alex Ferguson's No2 at Old Trafford between 2007 and 2013.
And he could be set for a Theatre of Dreams return as part of Man United's Netherlands revolution this summer.
According to ESPN, Ajax boss Ten Hag has won the race to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United manager.
They claim that he has beaten off competition from Mauricio Pochettino, Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique.
And they add that Meulensteen, 58, is under consideration to be appointed his assistant.

He then spent a season in charge of India's Kerala Blasters, ahead of taking on his current role as Australia national team assistant manager in 2018.
