Reports in Germany claim Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard 'wants' to sign Matthias Ginter this summer

Aston Villa are said to be interested in a move for Germany international Matthias Ginter this summer.

The Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back is set to leave the Bundesliga club this summer as his contract is due to expire at the end of the season. Ginter, 28, has been linked with a moves to Inter Milan and Bayern Munich, but now Villa have reportedly joined the race to secure his signature.


Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg said on Twitter: "News #Ginter: Gerrard wants him! @AVFCOfficial officials have spoken to his management. But Ginter has not made a decision yet. He waits for other options."
