Charlie Adam in confident Rangers prediction as he declares 'I don't think Braga can win'

The Dundee captain is backing his former club to get the job done and qualify for the Europa League semi-final

Charlie Adam admits he just can't see Braga knocking Rangers out of the Europa League.

The Dundee captain has predicted a comfortable victory for his former club and a place in the last four.

Braga lead 1-0 from last week's quarter-final first leg in Portugal but Adam reckons Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side will win "two or three nil".

And he believes it's a victory which will provide a timely shot in the arm with a Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic looming on Sunday.

Adam told talkSPORT: "They will need to (play better than the first leg). I was fortunate enough to get to the Dortmund game and the last round, the atmosphere has been electric.

"Listen, Braga have got experience but it will still be in the minds of the players that were there, two goals up at Ibrox and losing that game a couple of years.

"I don't think Braga can beat Rangers tonight. I think Rangers could win two or three nil, with the atmosphere and the crowd and what's going on.

"It's a huge four days for the football club.

"Getting through tonight will give them a boost going into an Old Firm game on Sunday."

Kemar Roofe, leading the line in place of the injured Alfredo Morelos, lodged a statement of intent at the weekend as he helped himself to hat-trick in a 4-0 trouncing of St Mirren.

And now Adam insists it's time for the Jamaica international to step it up another gear and produce that form on the continent.

He said: "(Morelos) has been a focal point in Europe. He occupies defenders and playing with a number nine like that, it makes your job as a midfielder a lot easier when you can roll it up to him, it'll stick and he'll get fouls.

"Roofe's different, he wants to run behind. He had a good hat-trick at the weekend but it's a different level playing St Mirren than it is Braga.

"He'll get an opportunity and, you know, big moments, big players. He needs to come in and show.

"(Aaron) Ramsey's fit, (Ryan) Jack will be fit, so Rangers will be probably at full strength. (Filip) Helander can't play anyway so it doesn't really matter with that injury.

"Braga are second top goal scorers in the Europa League, so it's going to be tough but I expect Rangers to get through."
