Fans have hailed Scott Carson for the cheeky role he played in the unsavoury scenes in the tunnel after Manchester City defeated Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

City travelled to the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday for the second leg of their European quarter-final tie. It was a feisty affair, with Atletico deploying their typical tricks in an attempt to rile up their opponents.

While the hosts did have chances to score, they failed to take them, with City progressing into the semi-finals. Brawls broke out towards the end of the game and that atmosphere carried on into the tunnel as the players made their way back to the dressing room.

The two teams continued to launch verbal assaults at each other with staff members holding them back from coming to blows. Carson was on the bench as one of City's back-up keepers for the trip to the Spanish capital.

And he also got involved in the tunnel, appearing to offer Sime Vrsaljko to go outside to fight him. The Atletico star had totally lost his head amid the verbal back and forth between the two teams.
