Real Betis held their nerve to win a penalty shootout 5-4 and edge out Valencia in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday after a thrilling contest had ended 1-1 following extra time at a packed La Cartuja stadium.
In a classic free-flowing encounter full of goalscoring chances and remarkable saves, it was hard to separate the two sides who maintained a frantic pace throughout the 120 minutes.
Yunus Musah was the fall guy as he missed Valencia's fourth spot-kick to give Betis a 5-4 win on penalties.

Both goals came in the first half as Hugo Duro's 30th-minute strike cancelled out Borja Iglesias' opener for Betis.
Real Betis' breathtaking win in their Seville hometown secured them their first major trophy since they won the same title in 2005.
It was only their fourth major title in their history having won the 1934-35 La Liga title and the Spanish Cup in 1977 and 2005.

Valencia had been chasing a second Copa del Rey since 2019 but fell to an agonising loss
'This is what we wanted, to win the Copa del Rey again,' said Betis' 40-year-old captain Joaquin Sanchez, who received the trophy from Spain's King Felipe VI.
'This is thanks to the work not only of this year. We have grown little by little and are having a great season.'
It was the first time the Copa del Rey final had gone to penalties since Barcelona beat Mallorca in 1998.

Borja Iglesias gave Betis the lead in the first half with a header from Hector Bellerin's cross
Betis, who are 15 points ahead of Valencia in La Liga, had done enough to win the match in normal time.
Sergio Canales and Juanmi Jiménez both hit the post, while Valencia needed goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to deny Nabil Fekir and Iglesias in the final moments of regular.
In the end it mattered little as Betis held their nerve to lift a rare piece of silverware to the delight of their raucous supporters.

But Hugo Duro cancelled out Iglesias' goal with a well-taken equaliser in Seville
