Who is Celta's Javi Galan? From Cordoba to Huesca and Barça next?
The left-back was a left-winger but slowly moved back on the pitch and has become key at Celta
Javi Galan Gil, 27, born in Badajoz, is a Spanish left-back playing currently for Celta Vigo. His good season and Barcelona’s needs to reinforce the position mean the Catalans are interested in him. He is worth 9 million euros, per Transfermarkt.
He stood out at Badajoz in 2013 at 18 years old after shining at CP Flecha Negra. Cordoba signed him two years later for their B team and in 16-17 he joined the first-team squad.
He played 17 games in the second division, as a left-winger. He began to consolidate himself in the XI although bit by bit he became a left-back. There he stood out to top flight side at the time, SD Huesca.
After Leo Franco was sacked, Francisco Rodriguez arrived and paid 1.8m to Cordoba for Javi Galan in January. He could not keep them but played well the next season as they returned rom the second tier.
Even though Huesca went down again, he was one of the best players and Celta Vigo paid 4m for him.
He’s the starting left-back for Celta, playing 34 games this season - 32 in La Liga, 2 in the Copa del Rey. He has three assists and his value has increased to 9m, per Transfermarkt.
Barcelona want to make him Jordi Alba’s competitor and potential successor at Camp Nou.
