Manchester United fans were left embarrassed by their planned protest on Monday evening against Brentford.

United fans had planned to continue their ongoing protest against the Glazers by walking out in the 73rd minute, with 17 minutes left on the clock. The significance of 17 is the number of years the Glazers have been in charge of the Red Devils.

However, when the 73rd minute came around, United fans didn't flee Old Trafford in the kind of numbers that had been hoped. Instead, United found themselves 3-0 up with somewhat of a party atmosphere at the final Premier League game at Old Trafford of the campaign.

One fan tweeted: "Holding up a banner reading ‘walkout on 73 minutes’ whilst simultaneously not doing exactly that sums up those lot. Embarrassingly funny."

"Convenient that the Man Utd fans start their 73rd-minute Anti-Glazer walkout and Rangnick decides to bring on Phil Jones," another joked. And a third added: "Man Utd fans holding bedsheets saying walk out on the 73rd minute. And not walking out on the 73rd minute."

Cristiano Ronaldo was at his inspirational best for Ralf Rangnick's side as he hauled United to the three points.

After burying a penalty to double United's lead, the Portuguese superstar signalled to the floor to let the United fans know he was going nowhere over the summer.
